Joann Ossewarde

My current work will give you a glimpse of travels...to England

(where my series of Maggie the Sheep began) to Turkey,

Thailand, Greece, Egypt, Spain, Portugal, Italy, France

and most recently South Africa. I sketch on site and take photographs for

further reference, then do the finished paintings in my studio.

The studio is located on Fidalgo Island near the very picturesque

town of La Conner, Washington.

From my beachside location, we look out at a salt water

cove called Skagit Bay. Our valley is famous for an annual

April tulip festival with many acres of land covered with daffodils,

tulips and irises in bloom,

this is certainly an inspiring place for an artist to live and to paint.

La Conner is located in the far northwest corner of Washington State,

60 miles north of Seattle.

I have been painting professionally for many years and "took up the brush"

after retiring from an ad agency career. Many of my clients have

commissioned paintings from favorite photos of places they have visited.

I welcome these assignments to "capture a memory."
